Sustainable energy is energy that is consumed at insignificant rates compared to its supply and with manageable collateral effects, especially environmental effects. Another common definition of sustainable energy is an energy system that serves the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The organizing principle for sustainability is sustainable development, which includes the four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics and culture. Sustainability science is the study of sustainable development and environmental science.
Technologies promote sustainable energy including renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectricity, solar energy, wind energy, wave power, geothermal energy, bioenergy, tidal power and also technologies designed to improve energy efficiency. Costs have decreased immensely throughout the years, and continue to fall. Increasingly, effective government policies support investor confidence and these markets are expanding. Considerable progress is being made in the energy transition from fossil fuels to ecologically sustainable systems, to the point where many studies support 100% renewable energy.
Effects of Global Warming
We have all seen programs like Blue Planet II, and yet the message is slow to register. We are all guilty of thinking it won’t happen here. The facts are this is happening now and if we continue to burn fossil fuels at the current rate of consumption the damage couple be irreparable. It’s easy to look at far flung places in the world and see natural disasters unfolding, Flooding, mud slides, multiple hurricanes and tropical storms and think this is normal. It’s not "normal" global weather patterns are changing causing issues across the planet. here in the South West of the UK we have seen a steady rise in winter temperatures, yes, we get cold snaps but it’s the norm that our winters are wet and mild. Flooding in the SW has increased 10-fold in the last 10 years and this has to be directly attributed to global warming. Lives are being ruined, homes lost, precious items lost and in some cases, lives lots. Can we really afford to ignore these changes?
We are not saying that we can change the environment overnight it has to be a collective effort. This statement may read as if we are ramming this down your throat, but we have to get this message across somehow. we are passionate about where we live, we want to make a difference, we want to be leading the fight and we want you there with us.
What Can You Do To Help?
We all agree that something needs to be done but yet we are slow to react, The simple fact is you can make a significant change simply by choosing to buy your power from renewable operators. It works in the same way as conventional power, get a quote agree the price, contract and let us do the rest.
The great news is there is no need to change pipes or cables, meters or habits. The benefit is that you are contributing to the solution and not the problem and that can only be a good thing.
